Takes on the UK electricity market

One of the start up ideas I've been testing revolves around the UK electricity market. Specifically selling batteries, so people can buy while electricity is cheap and sell when it's high.

A happy side effect of this is I know more than I've ever done about our friendly neighbourhood grid, including the market structure and regulations.

The nice thing about knowing things is one develops takes. Links to a few are below, both on the edge of what might be called technical. As with so many takes in this blog, I may well have missed something, and if you spot such a case do comment in the doc directly to tell me!

The biggest is that there are some £billions of free money and CO2 reductions sitting waiting to be picked up. More on this here where I attempt to persuade someone to pay me to figure out the best option.

A smaller one is how much money that is to be made from owning a battery. It depends on whether you think the difference between peak and off-peak electricity will reduce. It's a tricky question with no consensus. I had a go at answering it here.
